French toy retail group Ludendo is favourite to buy UK toy chain Hamleys in a deal worth £60m, which would help accelerate the French group in its aspirations to become a major European player. The group, which runs toys stores across France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain and Morocco could have completed the acquisition of Hamleys as early as the end of this month, according to reports, taking its first step into the UK.
