Largely abandoned amid the rubble of the 2008 economic crisis, Eastern Europe appears to be re-emerging as a potential target for retail growth, although the pre-recession dash to modernise regional retailing is unlikely to be repeated. A whole slew of recent statistics have quietly reinforced the view that while Central and Eastern Europe continues to be seen as high risk region, there are finally signs of potential rewards to match in a continent locked in moribund recession.
