As a conservative play in a 12 month period which is expected to mirror 2012 and show little growth before a predicted upturn in 2014, the year ahead should favour stronger retail real estate portfolios. With little new development, strong existing assets could enjoy a robust 2013 as cheap debt helps fuel acquisitions and improvements ahead of any potential upturn.
