Scott Corfe
Director
Centre for Economics and Business Research
Scott is one of the most widely quoted economists based in the UK and leads Cebr's macroeconomics team. His expert insights are frequently sought after by the media, and he is regularly quoted in the press as well as making the occasional TV appearance. He helps businesses use economics to make better decisions and prides himself on thinking outside the box and understanding that the past is not a good predictor of the future. Scott has consistently warned UK businesses to be prepared for weak economic growth and a continuation of very low interest rates for the foreseeable future.

Scott was the main author of Cebr’s influential report on the 50% top rate of income tax in the UK which showed that the top rate would lead to a loss of tax revenue in the long run. The top rate was subsequently cut to 45%. He has also produced compelling analysis arguing the case against a mansion tax and against a “health levy” tax on supermarkets in Scotland.

Focus Economics rated Scott one of the top 3 forecasters of UK economic growth in its 2016 awards.
